If that’s within fitness and seeing as you have a NASM CPT, I’ll highlight the most sensible route from my perspective. The thing to do from here is to focus on using this as a platform to get to where you actually want to go. This isn’t ideal for you long term and as thatundra mentioned it is something of a soul crushing job.ĭon’t panic. So the titles at big gym chains change all the time but effectively I’d guess you’re something like a training sales advisor. Right now it’s not like I plan on staying with LA Fitness for the rest of my working life but I figured it might be a good starting point as someone who doesn’t really have much experience yet (or at all) under their belt with training.įYI, I just accepted the position today so I’m literally brand spanking new and I guess just turning to Reddit to get this off my chest and in hopes to get some insight from people who have been in this business for longer. I’m trying to keep my expectations open and realistic. This is a huge step in changing careers for me so I guess I’m just really nervous about everything. I’ve heard so many mixed things about LA Fitness in general and how they are with their employees. Now I’m here and ended up taking a position with LA Fitness as a PTC and I guess I’m just posting to get some insight. The only thing that kept me there for almost 3 years was the Mon-Fri schedule and great benefits. Got my NASM certificate a couple weeks ago and have been applying to gyms around my area to get out of the factory job I’m currently in that I’m absolutely miserable at. I’ve worked for another gym before (Planet Fitness) just as a front desk person but that was before I knew I wanted to go into the fitness industry as an actual career path, so I didn’t really do much to try and climb the ladder. Took it a step further and got certified as a Personal Trainer through NASM. The gym has become a huge part of my life since then. I’m putting new in quotations because I started weight training in sophomore high school back in 2009/2010, and started taking it more seriously out of uni around 2016. I’m very “new” to the fitness industry in terms of actually starting and getting my foot in the business as a career path.
